April 20: Micky Blackwell
On April 20, former Lockheed Executive Vice President, Micky Blackwell, joined Marietta WorkMatters at Traton Homes to talk about how he integrated his faith into his work. Mr. Blackwell joined Lockheed Martin in 1969 as a research engineer after working seven years for NASA in Langley‚ Virginia. He held a number of management positions at Lockheed‚ including chief engineer of special projects‚ vice president of engineering and vice president of the F−22 fighter program. He served as president of Lockheed Aeronautical Systems Company in Marietta from 1993 to 1995 and retired in 2000 as executive vice president of Lockheed Martin Corporation‚ after working at Lockheed for more than 30 years. March 16: Randy Hicks
As the president and CEO of Georgia Family Council (GFC), Randy Hicks leads a non-profit research and education organization committed to fostering conditions in which individuals, families and communities thrive. Randy carries the message of community revitalization to civic, business and religious groups throughout Georgia and the nation. As a longtime student of the social effects of family breakdown, he works with local and national policy leaders to elevate marriage, family and community-based collaboration in our cultural and public policy discourse. Randy talked about what motivates him to integrate his faith into his work and why it is important for Christian business leaders to engage, influence, and lead in their communities.
February 17: Ike Reighard
On February 17, the former Chief People Officer of Homebanc, current President of MUST Ministries, and current pastor of Piedmont Church, Ike Reighard talked about integrating his faith into his work to grow others in our businesses. Ike Reighard is a man who has devoted his life to helping others transform ordinary living into an extraordinary life. While at Homebanc, his organization was included in FORTUNE Magazine’s list of the “100 Best Places to Work in America”. January 20: Louis Upkins
The founder of Leadship Sports and author of Treat Me Like a Customer, Louis Upkins, joined Marietta WorkMatters on January 20th. In his talk, he explained to local business leaders that principles they learn at work can (and should) be applied at home. Louis Upkins, Jr. is a proud husband and father. He is an entrepreneur having spent most of his career in branding and marketing. December 16: James Scott
The CFO of C.W. Matthews, James Scott talked on December 16th about how he has integrated his faith into his work. In the current economic climate, business decisions are difficult. “The only way we can know what is right is to have a proper standard to base it on.” Mr. Scott found that scripture has been the foundation for his business career and he shared how he has applied Biblical principles to specific difficult situations. November 18: Bernie Brown
Former CEO of non-profit Wellstar Heath Systems, Bernie Brown, talked from his vast experience of building a 700-employee local hospital into a 15,000, $1.5 billion health system. “In order to yield, you must yield,” Mr Brown said as he talked about addressing conflict, finding joy in the job you are in, and bridging the gap to find God’s unique purpose for you in your work. October 21: Tom Wilkes
Metro Atlanta business leader Tom Wilkes talked at the 2011-2012 WorkMatters Speaker Series on how he has integrated his faith into his work. After four years serving in the Air Force, Tom entered the apartment business and has worked for Trammel Crow Residential, Post Properties, and now as a partner at Walton Communities. September 16: Keith Johnson
Local business leader Keith Johnson talked about how he has integrated his faith into his work at WorkMatters on September 16. This father of five children and active leader in the community has been led by his faith in how he balances the big commitment of family and community with the requirements of leading a large commercial construction division that has steadily grown to be one of the largest in metro Atlanta.
